I don't understand why people are all "KYUBEY'S SCIENCE IS ALL WRONG AND THAT IS HORRIBLE"

ikr. I don't know why people were expecting hard science to suddenly crop up amid all the transformation scenes and monsters and whatnot.

This is the OP. The reason I have an issue with it is that it tries to represent itself as actual science. Someone else brought up FMA. There it is treated as science, but it's also made clear that science works differently in the FMA World. In Madoka, it's never explicetly mentioned, and it's usually shown that ignoring magic, everything else works the same. So it makes it more infuriating.

I'm willing to suspend my disbelief for some things, like the existance of magic. But when you try to explain that magic with Fail!Science, that's when my suspention is broken.

....you do realize that very, very few things use real science? Even the shows that claim to be "about science" aren't about science at all. Hell, they don't even balance their centrifuges in CSI!

Just because it's fail!science doesn't mean it's bad. And just because they use science words like "entropy" may just mean they couldn't find any other word that was close to what they were trying to say, so their intent might not have been to make it hard science.

Bascially...Madoka wasn't trying to be serious in that regard, so I don't understand why other people take it so seriously.

My interpretation was that Kyubey was actually giving them a bullshit explanation of why they do what they do, to a 14-year old girl it could sound like a plausible explanation and not question it, even though it's wrong. (How many people actually understand entropy anyway?)

While that is a good point...It makes MORE angry at him/it because he/it is pretending to each the girls something, while lying to their faces, all the while with that creepy, blank eyed stare and never moving his mouth. And his/it's stupid cat+Rabbit ears too.
