To be more exact, sometimes there wasn't actually exposition. The mangaka just used 2/3 of a page on reaction faces so we would know that Flashback Mode was incoming.

Me, I just find the countless reaction shots hilarious. One of these days, when I feel like destroying myself, I will make a drinking game out of it.

One shot for every time there is more than three reaction shots on one page.

Most of the fandom realizes it's silly and laughs at this. They're too busy having fun at reading into the vague shipping hints in each chapter. You'll get more crap for coloring Muku-owl's eye the wrong color in your secret than for thinking overdone reaction panels are overdone~

_{lol, my love for this fandom started to dwindle during this arc. I just want it to be over xD (the arc, I mean!) I was so hoping for a derpy arc after that intense future arc, and I guess I did get one, but this wasn't what I meant xD}

The trueness of this secret made me lol, although (as others have said) disgusted-with-a-thick-brown-underline-beneath-it strikes me in itself as a very strong reaction to be having! But yes, when you reach a point where certain characters are brought back exclusively so that we can have even more reaction panels, that is the point where the readers either just have to laugh, or go crazy. I recommend the former, though. It's shounen, after all, so we all know what we were getting into. :P

It's almost as bad as the anime, which spends half the episode recapping the last episode, and the other half being the characters reactions to the last episode.
