As horrible as Route 666 was plotwise, I loved Cassie, and I love Dean/Cassie so I watch that ep fairly often.

Oh, I agree with the Cassie part. Seeing Dean all broken-hearted and longing for a normal life was just wonderful. Ghost truck *vroom-vroom* not so much.

I love Cassie/Dean so much oh man. I never see it mentioned on comms I frequent though, so I figured there was something about it that the fandom deemed inappropriate to discuss (BECAUSE ITS HARD TO KNOW WHICH CHARACTERS ARE AN INSULT TO WOMEN OR NOT SOMETIMES)

I think the fandom doesn't talk about her much because of how bad the episode was. Most people have only seen it once and thus miss out on how awesome she is.

It makes me sad they break up pre-series though. I'd have to go all AU and Cassie'd be like "OK cool now get naked" when Dean tells her he's a hunter, and they'd move in together and 2 years later Dean goes to Stanford and is all, "Sam, meet the missus" and IDK, IDK... Characterization, what characterization?
