they were a big fucking plot point, how can anyone honestly think it ~doesn't matter~?

Missing plot point - the greenness of Harry's eyes figures into the plot of the story somehow, e.g. a spell/magical barrier requires a green-eyed witch or wizard to cast/dispel it. The blueness of Harry's eyes in the movies are a glaring omission and the spell/magical barrier's rules must be changed, except that since blue is a much more common eye color which is shared with a greater portion of the cast, a plot hole is created.

Not a missing plot point - in the books everybody says "your eyes are green like your mother's" and in the movies everybody says "you have your mother's eyes."

Late reply is late, but thank you. It always makes me want to bang my head against something when people talk about how 'important' Harry having green eyes was and how the movie ruined it. Green eyes/black hair is my favorite color combination and I would have loved to see it, but the actual color wasn't important in the books. At all.
