Amen OP. People can call me a homophobe or whatever all they want (I know I'm not, so shit don't faze me.), but I've always found slash fans to be the worst part of every fandom I've joined.

I love it how people like you make it sound like the slash fans of any given fandom share some kind of hive mind or something. You can ship a slash pairing and not act like a moron, just like you can be a het shipper and be an obnoxious asshole about it. It's a shock, I know. People who manage to read/write slash and het must blow your mind.

And, from what I've seen and a *lot* of people have said, the het fans tend to be wankier. I mean in my main fandom people get attacked for daring to say they don't like the biggest het ship - even though there are legit reasons for not liking it. [For example, it's almost always portrayed as being abusive.]

I hear that it's "being abusive" in regard to one of my favorite ships, too, and every time I point out, "This story is written by someone in (a) Different culture, (b) is typical way of showing UST in that culture's comedy offerings, (c) Character A is shown immediately able to do amazing things, etc., after supposedly being beaten by Character B", I then get whining about, "I still hate Character B! Character C would never hurt Character A like that!" Character C, of course, is male, just like Character A.

I guarantee you that there are many het fans in my old fandom who will point to a group of other het 'shippers of one particular pairing as being the absolute WANKIEST in that fandom, ever, if questioned.

You clearly were never involved in Avatar the Last Airbender fandom, then. The Zutarians were amongst the wankiest shippers I've ever come across.

Or HP fandom, for that matter. The Snapefen (regardless of who they ship Snape with), are the most annoying group of fans I've ever stumbled across in my time in fandom.

That depends on which fandoms you participate in. Het fans can be just as obnoxious. Just go check the Bleach fandom. The pairings wars and character bashing is astonishing. Actually in my case there's much more shit coming from het fans because of the supposed canon pairings of the fandoms so they are pullin this "it's canon" card all the time and if someone even dares to ship the characters with someone else... oh dear.
