Uhhhh sorry, are you under the impression that all het fiction is realistic? Take a stroll in the romance section of a used bookstore, rifle through a paperback, and see where it leads you. This too is meant as silly, sappy entertainment, not a commentary on real life relationships. It's great to go for realism; in fact, I often prefer it. That doesn't make that less accurate representations worthless or offensive.

Here's a tip for you that should serve you well in the future when you're in an unfamiliar place on the internet and people are using complicated and baffling jargon around you:

1. Go to google.
2. Type in nayrt.
3. Enter.

And it takes like ten seconds. Less than that if you happen to be a quick at typing, unlike me. Most people really don't spend every hour here. Seriously. The terminology used can be deciphered very quickly if you actually pay attention to what people are saying and use your head.

Seriously. These days, I hardly ever even ask questions on the Internet anymore.

Honestly, I always hated asking anyone questions if I felt I could figure it out on my own. I considered it a minor personal failure if I had to ask someone. At least in this regard, the internet has been like a dream come true for me. Google, wikipedia, urbandictionary, freedictionary? Answers for all my questions, and it only takes a few seconds. Awesome.
