I didn't twist it at all, it was just the wording that got me. The comment below yours explains what OP probably meant, but the wording was vague enough that it could still be interpreted both ways. Saying that because of that quote, they'd like to see Haruhi paired with insert-character-names/images-here would be more clear, and the fact that they all happened to be girls would drive home the point of "hey that probably means she doesn't care about sex or gender and those girls aren't ordinary humans".

But just saying "a girl" makes it sound more like it could be just being a girl that makes them not ordinary. And I did specifically say that it wasn't until after I did research prompted by the secret that I figured out what OP meant. Without any knowledge of the show's characters, it does sound very iffy.

If the quote had been "As long as it's not someone left-handed*" and the rest of the secret had been the same, would it be reasonable to interpret that as "secret-maker thinks girls never count as left-handed!"? No. It wouldn't. It would be pretty clear that the meaning was "if they meet the criteria of not being left-handed, anything else might be okay."

* Substitute whatever you want here, if you're offended by references to handedness or hypothetical discrimination against same; I'm just trying to make a point about the irrationality of the "girls can't be ordinary humans?!" interpretation.

I wasn't offended, just confused. Like I said, it wasn't until I looked it up and found out that those characters were an alien and a time-traveler that I knew for sure what they meant.
