How do you know they didn't? I'm sure they called her out on it, but if she believes in it and it's helping her... well, how is that different from finding comfort in, say, religion? (Other than the fact that it's more socially acceptable...)

Yeah, this. From experience I can say that most mental health professionals definitely understand and recognize the difference between harmless belief (I converse with God when I pray and I believe he/she/they/etc. listen) and a psychological issue (I am the second coming and will bring about the end of days next Tuesday).

It really depends. Does she think she's the type of 'medium' Annie is? Annie talks to beings who take the souls of the dead to the afterlife, she killed her mother by existing, anddddd she has magical powers over fire.

Not exactly healthy to think, IMHO
