I've starting hanging out in kpop fandom, but I actually avoided spn fandom for the reason you just gave..!
TBH I haven't come across wank yet, tho there is a lot of sarcastic humour and heavy discussion but that's more my style anyway.
I know some fans are batshit crazy - I hadn't heard of the period blood or acid-face but the superglue in Yunho's drink was a pretty scary story.
I'm scared now, lol.
