Not OP, but why does that impress you? I'm 21 and I adore Labyrinth; most people my age do. I think my generation as a whole has always been good at appreciating things that came before our time. For a really prominent example of this, think of all those teenagers who are obsessed with the Beatles.

I guess because I know a lot of people who wouldn't take a chance on anything that was made before they were born. Yeah, it's close-minded, but they have their sights on what's to come than what has been. Even when movies are remade, not everyone will want to see the original because it's "old." In my experience it's more common for teens to appreciate older entertainment a parent, older sibling, or relative "passed down" and showed them than for them to want to find on their own. Not saying it doesn't happen, but it seems more commonplace not to. Although, I think the internet has opened it up more to make it easier to find things someone may have mentioned in passing. ^^
