Beats her spending her entire fucking story getting kidnapped and rescued, as far as I'm concerned. I mean, I love the lady in my icon to bits, but that's more or less all that happened to her. Whatever you think about Arcee's personality, she's definitely a step up for female characters since G1, or Animated, or the Japanese cartoons, or anything that's not Beast Wars, really.

Good point, and she did get to actually do things. I was thinking more of Arcee, Blackarachnia, and Red Alert (to a point) when I made that statement.

I'm actually very fond of the ladies in G1 and Animated (even the ones who show up for five minutes in The Search for Alpha Trion), but most of them still aren't central characters the way TFP!Arcee is. And I'm really glad that there's finally a lady getting top billing in a way that used to be reserved for the guys.

I may be feeling all protective of her because of the secret, but Arcee is fabulous. She's all jaded and a little shell-shocked and pessimistic and snide and has the best lines and gets a couple of really interesting plotlines all to herself. Also I don't know how anyone could find the voice acting flat after "Predatory" but that's probably just me.

That said, you should also watch TFP because Frank Welker's TFP!Megatron is magnificent. It's just amazing hearing how his voice for the character has evolved.

Well, she is tough and able to handle herself. That I can agree with others about. However, she IS a boring character. But I think everyone is a boring character in the show. They're all just bland one notes who hasn't had much episode focus devoted solely to their characters (baring a couple of exceptions in mind).

Frankly, I think only Starscream and Knockout have any sense of charisma or interest that somehow keeps making me watch the durn show.

I like her as a character in a lot of ways. But I agree with this secret in many ways too. They're trying way too hard to make her Badass Action Girl, and it shows.

The guys have obvious flaws, even Optimus. She has some inner demons, yeah, but she deals with *everything* by blasting at it, and yeah, it's getting a bit old.

On a similar "too many stereotypes" note, I'd really like to see a female 'Con who's less femme-fatale and more "Killin' you now." I really like Airachnid a very heaping much lot, but... again? Seriously?

Well, a single female character has not many options. In the end she will always be some kind of female stereotype. Either the tough no-nonsense action girl who is "even better than the guys in doing guy things", the femme fatale, the useless damsel in distress or the mother-type.

It's the same with single male characters. They always have to be a gender stereotype. Or at least this is how it looks to me.
I don't mind Arcee because there are many tough, action characters in the show. They even turned Wheeljack into some sort of badass ninja warrior. Wheeljack.

I kind of liked Strika in BM and Animated and Slipstream (even though both didn't get much spotlight). They were at least a bit refreshing!

But while we're at it, Optimus has flaws? I haven't noticed. For me he's the most boring character in this entire series so far because he comes across like some sort of perfect being who always corrects others and behaves like some sort of robotic Jesus. Also no fan of Peter Cullen's voice work in this show. I mean, I love his voice, but he seems to deliver every line with SUCH pathos, it's kind of annoying.

To me she's just a strong character. This show is full of super perfect fighters, why is it so horrible if one of them is a "girl-bot"?
What I really hate about her is that she isn't pink. Tough women can't be pink, they have to be some typically male color (pink is for girls, blue is for boys). And what guy would actually like to ride a pink motorcycle? Gayyy. Urgh.

I don't know, man. I agree on the monotone voice, though. She's grating. But isn't she supposed to be bitter and pessimistic due to her past? She lost two partners. But maybe having a tragic past also makes her a boring action girl character in your book *shrugs*

Wanna know which characters I find boring? Optimus and Megatron. Especially Megatron. He's just as typically evil (TM) as his G1 self, only less cartoony and fun. I'm sick of one-dimensional bad guys.

But this show will have a second season. Maybe they will explore the characters more then. I hope they will! :)
