I don't think it was that long. And I think the circumstances made it worse. Getting over someone's death is one thing, but getting over a murder when everyone around you is calling it an accident...

Also, she was functioning, and going to school, and presumably eating and so forth. The fact that she bursts out crying doesn't mean she isn't doing her best to get over it.

Let me point out that, in my original comment, I stated that I thought it was about a year after Cedric had died - at that point, if just the thought of someone still makes you burst out in tears, it probably *is* a good idea to see a pro to help, not that I thought she 'wasn't trying her hardest to get over it'. To be perfectly honest, I'm sure she was - most people don't enjoy feeling that way.

Also, I mentioned that it depended on the time, and apologized/felt differently when I realized it hadn't been roughly a year later. I also stated that, regardless of time, I didn't think she would be completely over it - or ready to date someone realistically. Saying that someone might want to get grief counseling is *not* looking down on them, or saying that they should be over it.

I was more referring to some of the people in fandom and their ultra-tough attitudes toward her than to your comment per se.

Not sure I 100% agree that I'd recommend pro help for a person who still loses it when thinking of a loved one even after a year, if the person was doing OK otherwise. Though whether Cho was "doing OK otherwise" I guess we don't know, to be fair. And either way it's not an irrational thing to say, so yeah, I get your point
