I was going to say something similar as well. Everyone responds differently when faced with a loved one's admission of being suicidal. Any kind of help can be enough - or, sometimes the loved one has already made up their mind to the point where nothing can be enough.

Blaming the OP for the friend's suicide is wrong, as is calling the OP a bad friend for trying to help in the only way they could think of at the time.

I am very sorry for your loss, OP.
