I think it would have, but it may have gotten seriously effed up if it had another few seasons. We'll never know.

I do wish the movie had been at least a miniseries instead to wrap things up.

That's kind of what I meant, that it was this shining little snippet of something that never got a chance to be fully fleshed out, and all the fans have their own ideas as to what would have happened, and of course that's better than anything that would have probably actually occurred on the show, and people judge the show by that ideal?

I've liked a lot of Joss shows and I think his execution in Firefly was his best, so I like to think it would have gone well for at least the first few seasons, but I've also seen Angel S4 and heard his plans for Dollhouse, so...

Yikes. So very, very true. I think one of the reasons why it's so good is because it was cut down before it had a chance to go any weird directions.

I'll never get over how amazing Angel could have been if S4 hadn't royally fucked everything up. Even Buffy at it's worse isn't as bad as some of the shit they pulled.

Ahhh, season four. It had its redeeming moments -- Spin the Bottle, Supersymmetry, The Magic Bullet -- but on the whole, what were they thinking? Even so, it's probably my favorite Whedon production, but let's be thankful Firefly never had to go through that :\

Yeah, I love the parts of the whole. I think the Jasmine storyline was pretty awesome (though probably more awesome if Cordy had been apart of it, smh) and the disillusionment of Fred and Gunn was pretty great and everything leading up to Wolfram and Hart in S5, but it's so spotty and ruined by all the things they did to Cordy and all that surrounded that.

Yeah, I loved Jasmine, the Beast was okay, and Apocalypse Now was a fantastic episode up until The Scene. If they'd just cut the disgusting Oedipal shit and Cordelia's passive role, it probably would've been a good season -- or at least a better one. Alas.

I can't recall specifics, but there was some quote about how he wanted to shift focus to the "Johns" and get their motivations more and let us sympathize with them, which is impossible for me to really do considering what they're doing.
