This problem is everywhere.
My generation was brought up with this "EVERYONE'S A [TALENTED] WINNER" bullshit (at least at the schools I've went to, blah) and if someone tries to give crit it's simply because ~someone's out to get you~.
And now it's impossible to even get crit. I am drawing/writing this thing and I can clearly see places where it's screwed up. Why are these people complimenting it? Why can't they point out more crap so I can improve further?

ugh this this this!
my elementary school started bringing in the "everyone's a winner" thing a few years before i left for junior high. in fifth grade i remember making a poster for a project that took me days to complete. i drew most of the pictures myself (i must admit, i was a pretty good at drawing at the time), i rewrote all the info in my own words, i made it as bright and colorful as i could so that it attracted attention...and i got a B- for it. meanwhile there was a kid in class who rarely did his work, and he ended up getting an A+ for his poster despite the fact it was 2 photocopied pages from the Encyclopedia taped (with sticky tape) onto poster paper. i was so pissed off. when i asked the teacher about it she said he deserved the A+ because that was "good work, for him". grrrr.
