Because, while what the OP is going through is horrible, the OP did make the wrong choice. Like it or not that *does* have consequences in life - and this time that consequence may very well have ended someone's life. Are some of the comments harsh? Yes.

Speaking as some one whose been on both sides most people don't just send someone a link and say 'Listen to this. It'll make you feel better.' That does come off as brushing off the other person's feelings as something that just listening to a cheery little tune will fix - and really, comes off like you don't care, even if that isn't the case. Also, something you might want to consider is - from how the OP described the situation - their friend called them when at the point committing suicide which isn't quite the same as saying 'I want to die'.

That said, considering that this *is* F!S, and that this comm is hardly known for being compassionate? It's not that hard a stretch to think it might be a troll.
