The most traumatic thing about sexual abuse, victims later recount, is not the sexual experience itself but the feelings of helpless and the massive betrayal of trust involved in discovering that someone you love and look to for protection views you only as a means for their own sexual gratification.

Even if the OP refused and turned right around and reported this monster to her mother/the police/school counselor and he is now rotting in jail like he deserves, the trauma of having been propositioned by a parental figure would remain.

Things like that, especially coming from a family member that you'll likely run into on occasion no matter what you do, are rarely ever a one-time experience. It's very likely that it was a regular occurrence. Also, stepfather = caregiver, plenty of people would stupidly go "oh he would never hurt his own stepchild", and that can make the victim feel even more helpless and cornered by the situation. And then there's the fact that if someone is sick enough to try to take advantage of someone they're supposed to act as a parental figure to, that's their fault for being a slimy douchewad, not the child's fault. Do you even know how abuse works?

this was not a one time occurrence and i really feel insulted for you trivializing this.

he's done that for other things i wanted to get as a young teenaged girl. and i did those things because i was convinced i secretly wanted it even though i knew it was wrong.

there are other anime he did this to me for but i was able to sit down through them and watch them again despite knowing what i "paid".

the only reason why utena is the subject of this secret is because i have never seen the series but every time i want to see it, it comes back. i remember all the lies and how he manipulated me into believing him. all that's left for me right now is to conquer this fear. i need to admit it, even through

fandomsecrets so i can see that i have passed through it. i moved one through another day with no more pain and one day, maybe one day, i can sit down and watch utena and finally be past it.

I'm sorry, but just because you too were abused, and your situation was different does not mean you can call the shots on whose abuse was more "legitimate," or whose was actually abusive. That's not fair, and you don't have the right to do that.

You know the thing about children/teenagers? Their brains aren't fully developed; especially the frontal lobe, which has a lot to do with decision-making. If your parental figure, in whom you place a lot of trust, tells you that something is the right decision, you're probably going to be more inclined to think so. But you know, that's the point either. It's not either of ours jobs to rationalize what OP's situation was. It happened to OP, end of story.

you missed the part where he convinced me that i secretly wanted even though i knew otherwise. i knew what he was doing to me was wrong but he convinced me that i wanted it to a point where i did actually believe him.
