Why is it bothering me so much that the fanart is done in such a way as to completely hide Zuko's scar?

Because it's a prominent part of him and people like to get rid of it?

idk, I thought such a huge prominent scar (that did not get healed!) and is such a huge part of his personality was great.

It bothers me too. Well, on a first not, I sort of like scars. But, secondly, I really liked the fact that they didn't beatify him in order to make him look more "good".

I like the idea of cartoon characters being given sainthood to make them look GOOD

It's yours? I think it's very well-drawn art-wise. And of course it's the non-scar side. I just sort of dislike when artists make the scar nearly invisible because they find it more aesthetically pleasing.

I actually drew that side and not the other one because I am was really bad at drawing males and that was the only side I could do without wanting to throw something at my computer and set my mouse on fire. XD I think it was one of the first fanarts I did for Avatar. I look back at the drawings I did that year and I kinda cringe at how bad they were.

I can actually completely relate to that. Except I couldn't draw to save my life in general.

XD I got a little better since then. Practice is the answer.

It helps that I don't draw with a mouse anymore. :P

Personally I love his scar, but I also draw and I can tell you that sometimes it's wrong for a piece. His scar has a lot of meanings associated with it that may be inappropriate for a piece's theme. Also, if you're drawing them in profile (which is ubiquitous in couple-pictures because it has them looking at each other without drawing one from behind), you have to choose between all scar and no scar (assuming that you're actually planning it out to that degree). Also, consider the fact that the scar effects the shape of his eye dramatically and has destroyed that eyebrow. It's hard to get subtlety of expression with the only eye being contorted to a very angry shape.

Basically, there are a ton of different reasons why you might choose the unscarred side with have nothing to do with him being "hotter" (which I think was the implication). Also, if you were randomizing poses, half of the pictures you draw of him in profile won't show it.
