Same here but from the other side. I felt like I was doing it wrong when I told my friends that parts of the movie were boring and that I still didn't like Snape. One of them wouldn't even look at me after I said that.

Seriously, I totally understand how sad it is to lose a series that's been with you forever. My childhood series also ended this year, rather abruptly with the death of the author. Unfortunately I wasn't graced with the opportunity to share with so many other fans, which would have been nice...

But yeah, feel free to have a sad. It's a big thing. :)

I have so many criticisms of the films (admittedly a lot of it concerns the music which no one ever understands or even apparently hears) but I do know what you mean. Part 7 especially is just forest forest forest silly fight forest forest...

I have to say I think I enjoyed part one of DH more for some reason. Something about that one was just more awesome. But Neville was great in this one. I just remember thinking during all of the long-winding speeches, "can we please go see what Ron is doing right now?"

Redwall is my childhood book series, and it's been with me since fourth grade. My sister was born when I was in fifth grade, and in the picture where I'm holding her for the first time, there is a Redwall book open on my lap.

The final book came out this year after Brian Jacques' unexpected death, and I'm about to begin University. There's a lot of love there, so I totally understand where HP fans are coming from. HP just isn't mine.

Sadly nobody else I know locally was a fan, so I dealt with it on my own. :U
That's what I can admire for the HP fans, the fact that it's one big community (minus the crazy fans and such).

...holy shit, Brian Jacques is dead? I freaking loved Redwall when I was younger to the point of obsession, I just...grew out of touch with it when I was about sixteen or so. That makes me really, really sad that I'm so out of touch with Redwall I didn't even know he'd died. That's another series I'll have to reread again, I guess.
I'm guessing the Redwall fandom isn't incredibly active then. I'm sorry you weren't able to share with others when he passed:(.

Yup, he passed on in February. I was so into the series that I would save copies of the books from libraries that were trashing them. Thusly I have multiple copies of a lot of them... I just couldn't let them get thrown out. I feel incredibly lucky that I was able to meet him before he went.

Redwall has a large RP fandom, but it's hard to really place the books into your stereotypical fandom arrangement. You know, pairings left and right and all that.

After the movie I brought up the fact that eventually JK will pass on as well (I had been thinking about Redwall during the movie) and my friends didn't want to hear it, and I totally understand. It's hard to imagine someone so influential not being there anymore. I know she was inspiration for my friends who want to be writers.

My school library was going to trash a lot of books if they didn't manage to sell them - I think I went home with half of the Redwall series at the time and the swallows and amazons series. I hate when books get thrown out, it's just not right.

Yeah, I'd feel weird about shipping and things, but the roleplay I can see happening. Might have to track some down for the nostalgia one day.

It is hard to hear, I guess, but everyone goes at some point. I can't say I'll be any sadder when she dies because she's JK though, I'll just be sad that another pretty darn decent author has gone, like when Douglas Adams went. >: Thinking about all these wonderful people dying makes me feel incredibly old.
