Are you referring to pro-choice people who wouldn't have an abortion themselves, because I think that's a lot more admirable. In that case it's going beyond what is best for you personally.

It's easy for a poor man to say the rich should be taxed more for the good of the poor, it's a lot harder for a rich man to say.

If you are rich and not willing to sacrifice a little to help those less fortunate, it makes you an asshole. If you are someone who prances about claiming to be pro-choice while looking down your nose at women who made the choice best for them, you are not pro-choice. So... nothing you said is admirable.

You are totally missing the point.

Also, saying the option should be legal and saying it is ethical/moral/right are two entirely different things. Personally, I'd much rather people focus on the legality of such things, I could care less if they think I made a wrong choice. Legal approval is what you're fighting for, not personal approval.

I reserve the right to judge people by their actions just as much as you already judged the rich person.

If you're somebody who supports the legal right of a woman to choose an abortion, you are pro-choice. And if you then look down on her for having an abortion? You're still pro-choice.

Similarly, I know a few people who think being homosexual is disgusting and immoral, but still see gay marriage as something the government shouldn't restrict.

Being pro-choice isn't an identity; it' a legal opinion. It's more like...you're not a feminist if you look down on women who get abortions.

Debatably. I see what you mean, but I'm not sure I would agree either. It's just again combining legal stuff and philosophy with personal judgement. To put it another way, being sexist is treating/judging someone differently based on sex. Feminism, if the counter to sexism, is judging people equally without any consideration given to gender.

In my opinion, I'd say looking down on anyone in a movement that's supposed to be about respect and equality is kind of a bad move?

*nods* I can see that.

For me it's equality and equal respect. Whether that means respecting everyone's decisions for everything or not is your own choice. However, I certainly do think that everyone should be given equal opportunity to make their own choices, whether or not I like them. (Though to be fair, for me it's a lot more not respecting a choice rather than not respecting an individual. A good, worthwhile individual can make dumbass choices. ;))
