I don't have anything to say, I just wanted to abuse the "category title"...

It's a joke. Pattycake = making whoopee = dancing the horizontal tango = doing the nasty = making love.

All euphemisms for sex.

I don't believe you're that much older.

Okay. So, back in the good old days of cartooning (i.e. the ones WFRR were parodying/homageing), there were certain things you couldn't say because of the Hays Code or whatever. But, you could still get a pretty good laugh out of the adult crowd by saying that two characters were "off playing patty-cake," nudge nudge wink wink. Other phrases were also used, but that's one of the more ridiculous ones, which makes it funnier in the WFRR context.

Now, the entire conceit behind WFRR is that the cartoons we are familiar with are all real for the 'Toons. Logically, this would imply that 'Toons actually don't have sex, but instead they play patty-cake, or make whoopie pies, or somehow actually dance a horizontal tango. The joke comes from the intersection of 'Toon and Human morality: Roger reacts like Jessica was having sex with that guy, but the audience finds it ridiculous.

god I can't believe I thought that hard about this stupid joke

idk, I always thought that the joke was that he was getting so upset over something as juvenile as patty-cake. Toons are quite different in the movie than people are, so I always figured the 'culture' difference was supposed to be the joke.

Patty-cake is a euphemism for sex.

The audience is led to believe Jessica and the other guy had sex.

Then the photos are revealed, and we see that they really were just playing patty-cake.

Roger is just as devastated because patty-cake is the equivalent of sex in toon world.

That's the joke.

No, you got the joke, it was just never very funny.

Lol, that was for t!b 2, by the way.

It's a bit funnier if you see the scene in Chinatown it's parodying.

I don't know how to adequately convey how happy your icon makes me.

That's a shame. I was going back through old posts and there were one or two secrets that I would have liked to comment on, but with it being, in some cases, years later, there wasn't any point.

It would be nice if there could be an exception made for secrets over, say, 6 months old, but I doubt it'll happen.

(You could, perhaps, make posters have to put which secret post the original secret was in or it automatically ends up in the failbar... and I'm spending way too much time thinking about this so I'll stop now.)

TBH, the explanation just makes me want to start replying to take-it-to-comments secrets with more secrets in an attempt to spawn another failbar category. I'm not going to, but only because I'm lazy.
