What is it about Nazi uniforms that make them different from like, police uniforms, or US military uniforms, or something?

Or is it just that lots of people like uniforms period?

Oh I do like uniforms in general, or more specifically military officer uniforms. Oh yes, guh. This fetish is so bad I had some Marine Captain in the elevator at Nekocon -- they always schedule a Marine Officer's Ball the same weekend as the con -- inviting me out for drinks and I was sorely tempted to accept 'cos OMG, uniform! But I think what it really is is the fact that Nazis had the most awesome uniforms. Mainly the SS. Mm ... black uniform, knee boots, you get the idea. That in no way is to condone Nazis but the uniforms were lovely. It's kind of how the villains always have the best costumes.

So yeah, Nazi AU dress ... guh, I'm thinking Gin and Kira dressed as Nazis now. Shoot me please. Lol.

They'll make sexy Nazis. And well, for Gin it's not too far a stretch of imagination really. And Kira's like the brainwashed Hitler Youth kid. ::cough.:: Oh that note let me add Nazis are horrible disgusting sadistic people ... but their uniforms make me happy.

The Nazis made careful use of symbolism to be appealing to the masses. They borrowed from ancient India (the swatsika (sp)), and from ancient Rome (those rods with an eagle on them which were carried in parades). Hitler was a master at charming people at least initially until he went completely bonkers.

Yeah, he had everyone so fooled initially that US senators were suggesting that perhaps we look to Germany as an example of a way to get out of the depression.

Nazism was visually stunning, but so are most corrupt regimes. If you can entice enough with imagery you can do anything.

Oh, shiny explanations, true, very true *nod* Now I remember an interesting document about how much of nazism was based on these megalomaniac unrealistic ideas (example: all people are supposed to be "beautiful" which of course=good, and any means are acceptable to achieve this) an example of what happens when artists take over, lol
...and here I was thinking those uniforms are so hot because of the evill-ness aspect. You know, dark=sexy... :P

But what about the puffy pants? Aren't they a bit dorky? <_<
