I'm just the opposite, anon. I want to ship it, and the two of them make it very difficult for me not to ship it-- but many years of comic book fandom have made it completely impossible for me to ever consider a pairing like this even when, as you point out, it's not the same Bucky.

I'm glad you're able to enjoy it, though, because it's an awesome pairing.

It's really not a terrible thing to ship it even in the comics. In Marvel canon, the comics themselves actually exist in the universe and Bucky has stated that he was actually portrayed as much younger in the original comics. Check out the Young Allies 70th Anniversary Special. Captain America: Man Out of Time also addresses it (and is also a more updated version of Cap's first days out of the ice). I think Bucky was still a few years younger than Steve, but not significantly.

So please ship away from whichever canon without fear of being labeled a creep, OP!
