It's not the subject the OP has a problem with, it's the word itself - i.e. they believe the term trivialises or otherwise softens the subject.

At least, that's how I read it.

That's what I mean, too. How does calling a thing what it is trivialise it? Rape is non-consensual sex. There is no better way to describe rape than to call it non-consensual sex. What I mean is that we shouldn't have to use the word 'rape' to denote everything that is wrong and terrible about rape; the word non-con carries every single one of those implications, as far as I'm concerned.

Because that's not the kink. That's to say they should be ashamed of the kind of kink they like, even though it's fantasy and no one is getting hurt, because they aren't thinking of how miserable the same situation would make people in reality.

It's essentially a backwards way of saying people can only have their kink so long as it's real life consequences are rubbed in their face, or else they are wrong and should be ashamed.

non-con fics run the gamut from funny-but-wrong, to no-no-no-yes!, to utter horror. The only fic that's acceptable under this would be the utter horror end of things. That's a big your kink really isn't okay.

And you know what? Fuck that noise.
