In regards to the SB: One of the things I've been ruminating on lately are the social ideals we feel we have to conform to even if they don't apply to us and there's no reason for them to necessarily be so. In this case, that family must be more important to you than friends, that RL friends are more real or important than internet friends, and what entertainment it is "okay" to become emotionally invested in.

Fuck that. If you love your friends more than your family, that's okay. If your friends keep you alive and your family doesn't, that's okay. (Shit, that's how it is for me.) If your love of a TV show - even Yu-Gi-Oh GX - keeps you going, love the everliving hell out of that show and fuck the haters.
