I can see why you'd think that, and I probably should have chosen my words more carefully. Personally, I'm capable of liking characters even when I recognize they are Sues, and I thought Lacus was a Sue even before I hated her (that came later on in the series). Still, though. Sorry for that.

She isn't the center of the universe and better than everyone else at everything because she isn't the protagonist; all those traits apply to Kira instead (whom I also consider a Sue, but that's beside the point). My definition varies from yours a little, I think. In my view all the other traits I listed make up for her not being the super awesome main character.

She's kind of painted as the perfect woman instead, and a great majority of her fanbase is male, I've found. (But then, most of the show's fans are male, too.)

I'm not really sure what types of characters can be considered moe, but. Lacus is presented as a strong character but at the same time needily clings to her boyfriend, which is another thing that kind of ticked me off, I guess.

I think her fanbase comes more from the admiration of her character's qualities than how her character is written.

Myself, I can't really say whether I consider Lacus to be a Sue or not because I haven't finished SEED or watched the Destiny sequel (mainly because I've heard about how much it sucks), but from what I've seen? She's definitely borderline. However, I think it's less about how strong she is and more none of the characters seem to acknowledge her weaknesses, and the ones who do are the bad guys or just eventually end up biting the dust (see: Fllay).
