I see this "trend" everywhere. People who take the internet as srs bsns. I think it's the amount of old people, like 50+ being more adventurous and exploring the internet away from safe sites like Facebook. It's harshing on my fun, yo!

Hahah what? It's actually more likely that the first two generations of internet fandom have reached adulthood - those who are still in fandom wish to participate, but they're going to have more tempered opinions and they're going to want to participate on a more constructive level than they did as tweens/teens.

I'm sorry fandom can't be all OMG OTP LOLOLOLOL LET ME POST A GOOFY SCREENCAP <333333333333 with like blingee text and shit everywhere. Some of us kind of treat it like real life but with discussions about characters and plots. Shocking but true, fandom is different fro everybody!
