The fact that are relating the struggles of the LGBT and GSM communities to the "struggles" of a group of people fucking around in fursuits is absolutely insulting to anyone who has to deal with discrimination based on their sexual or gender identity. There is a difference between a valid identity and being someone with a weird fetish. Learn it.

I absolutely agree on all accounts, though I do think they people should treat furries less like shit just because they like drawing anthropomorphic animals fucking. (I also think furries need to get over themselves.)

Whether THIS is a troll or not, I've actually seen people say this exact thing in complete seriousness.

And...yeah, tbh, I don't care. I understand why other people find it wildly offensive. But if I have even a toe in the door to get someone to understand the concept of oppression, I'm going to use it, even if the example that turns on a single lightbulb in the other person's head is totally ridiculous or offensive. Relating personal experience (or even just something the other person is familiar with) is how you reach people, and sometimes that experience is not going to be what you would have expected or wanted.

Okay.... I just wanted to say I'm not sure why everyone is getting so angry at you. As I read it, you have found a parallel between how furries are treated on the internet - i.e. with ridicule, ostracized and seen as perverts - and GLBT people in real life and that has helped you understand that GLBT need their safe spaces and why they are struggling for equal rights and acceptance. I'd say that's a good thing. Apparently, I'm missing something here.

The difference is that OP GLB is actually to do with sexuality and the genders you are attracted to, T is to do with gender identity. These things can define a rather large portion of your life and face discrimination in many areas and cultures from day to day life. Furry seems like more of a 'kink' to me if it does come from the sexual end- like some people are into just roleplay in general I guess but it doesn't matter, what people care to do in their own bedrooms is their business. It's a more public kink though I guess it seems, or perhaps it's just so notorious because people make a big deal out of it because it seems weird. No, GLBT+ is not the same as furrydom.

Plus of course ther are people out ther who will actually kill you for being those things unlike a furry where people will just dick around with you on the net. I've never heard of anyone getting killed for being a furry.


Though personally I think I don't have that big a problem with furries and some do just dress up in fursuits with nothing sexual to it anyway. The vast majority, even those who make it sexual do not want to f*** animals obviously. It's just some athestic thing they're into I suppose. A certainly very different one but eh.

Granted this may have to do with the fact I had a crush on old-school toon Leo from TMNT as a kid when that show was on re-runs in the mid-to lateish 90s from what I remember. It was pretty innocent obviously but there you go.
