I'm not a fan of Lupin/Tonks in execution (but in theory I could be on board--fic recs anyone?), and I certainly was irritated by their swift off-screen death, but I loved this moment in the movie. Such a tender moment that speaks volumes for characters who get sidelined after book five.

And I loved how they were still reaching for each other when their bodies were placed in the Great Hall.

The way they were reaching for each other all the way through made me sob like a baby. I'm still not happy with JK for not letting us see how Remus really died (feel a bit cheated given we've seen the rest of the Marauders, even Peter, be sent off in some form) but they were all casualties of war...

I thought it was one of them too. Then I realized it was a woman, and one I didn't recognize at that, so I assumed it wasn't related to HP. But the comments here told me otherwise. Oops.

I remember being really sad that their hands never quite touched and still weren't in death. It's like they had all this potential that never quite made it...which is kind of apt for the pairing, I guess.

I had seen that moment already in the trailer, so was prepared for it. I was not prepared to see their bodies in the Great Hall. The book just kind of skips over that part and just barely mentions them (I felt), so I hadn't seen the need to brace myself. But it's been days and I can still picture it and it's still a punch to the gut. And I don't ship them, but the way they reached out was heartbreaking.

Shallow note: I think they both looked good in DH.

This; the scene seeing both of them in the Great Hall just broke my heart. I'm glad there was that scene, though, because both of them have been my favorites since their introduction. Aaaaand it made me sob harder than anything else in the movie.

I agree with your shallow note too; I swear, I think I'm the only one who thinks that Natalia Tena is good looking.

(Just saw the movie two days ago)

I... I actually liked Lupin/Tonks as shown in the movie, even though the book incarnations irritated me a lot. Them barely touching was great emotionally among other things.

Honestly I think the movie benefited A LOT from the fact they didn't have to stick with Harry's perspective all the time in the books so we got to see a lot of things we otherwise wouldn't have been able to (beyond the occasional beginning chapter or so). For instance actually seeing Hermione and Ron in the Chamber of Secrets in the movie>>>> telling Harry the story afterwards because he wasn't there to see it. Harry actually seeing Snapes memories... seemed less jarring I suppose? Plus no real extreme narm in the case of Fred's death like in the books. And while I don't think Molly should have been the one to kill Bellatrix at all, even if was better than the books where the mental images I conjoured of Molly screaming were just eye roll enducing and idiotic. I can't say I loved that scene at all and still would prefer something different, but it was far better. If I was to point at things that irritated me, keeping the fact all of Slytherin were sent away and the fact I don't remember seeing Percy was a tad annoying. But eh, still overall I can say I actually enoyed it- and in the worst book of the series for me that's sort of saying something.

But other than that, I honestly think the movie protrayed and showed emotion better in general and without having to stick with Harry all the time we were able to see these little moments which made a bad book actually pretty good IMO. The Horcruxes and wand lore thing is still something I can't exactly make sense of but overall? Yeah, I though the movie>the book in the Deathly Hallows case if only for the emotional parts which just weren't possible when we were stuck with Harry the whole time.
