This theory bothers me SO MUCH. Lily's most important characteristic is her GREEN EYES. We hear about them every five minutes. Ginny has brown eyes. Also, it's always been hinted that Harry is like his dad on the outside, but he has his mother's eyes, and he's like his mom on the inside. Harry's personality is nothing like James. Also, the relationship dynamic in H/G is NOTHING like James and Lily.
If you want a James/Lily parallel, try Ron/Hermione. Love/hate relationship, pureblood boy and muggleborn girl, and many a Ron/Hermione shipper have pointed out the parent/child dynamic the two sometimes have with Harry. I won't get into all that, but, while they're not exactly the same, R/Hr is much more like J/L than H/G is.
