I've been jealous of red heads (and even dyed my hair a few times) ever since growing up on Little Orphan Annie and Anne of Green Gables. Both of which are FAR better role models than most of the ones you've pictured.

Blossom? She's the most annoying of the three power puff girls. She needs to get off her self-righteous throne forever.

Misty? Does Misty have any positive character traits? The only one I can remember is annoying.

Jessica Rabbit? She's not bad, she's just drawn that way. But we know she's not shallow because she's married to Roger and truly loves him. That's 1/3.

Ariel? Meh. She sold her soul for a vagina so she could be with a human man. That's a great role model for girls. Nothing matters in life if you don't have a man to "love" you.

Jean Grey? I never liked her, despite her red hair. She was too perfect, too annoying, too bland. She was marginally better in the movies, but not by much. There are much more interesting and better X-Women in the lineup.

Ginny? MARY SUE! I didn't mind Ginny in Chamber of Secrets, but when she came back a totally different character, totally smitten with Harry, it totally annoyed me. I kept hoping it was just a hero crush and that she'd get over it and someone better would come along for Harry.

Asuka? Are you serious with this one? Of all the annoying red heads on this list, she tops it. She's entitled, bitchy, bossy, spoiled (at least in her own attitude), arrogant, conceited. Do any of these sound like positive character traits?

I don't know much about that last chick, so I'll give her to you. You get 2/8. If you are anything like those other six women, then this sexy, feisty brunette who knows how to fight back and naturally becomes the center of attention whenever she enters the scene wants NOTHING to do with you.

But it's ironic you mentioned that. In the original story, mermaids don't have souls. TLM wanted the love of the prince AND a soul, and she would have gotten both if they had kissed and if the prince was in love with her and married her...or, she'd die brokenhearted on the morning of the Prince's honeymoon.

So she actually traded in her tongue (literally) and for a pair of legs that caused her immense pain when she walked for a man and a soul.

The Prince ends up marrying a Princess who was being educated at a nearby temple, who nursed him back to health after TLM saved him from the sea. It gets kind of screwy here...both girls saved him, but I guess he thought he luckily washed up on shore and assumed the temple Princess was the only person to have a hand in his life being saved. But only when TLM decided she'd rather die as a human and cease to exist, rather than turn back into a mermaid after she killed the man she loved (her sisters went to the sea witch and traded in their long hair for a knife that she'd have to use to kill the prince and let his blood drip onto her feet to get her previous life back), did she eventually obtain a eternal soul after 300 years of doing good deeds.

Sorry for the history lesson! The original story is just so much better.

Oh! And in the original, (even in some of tDisney version) was she either a blond or a brunette.
