I was pretty sad that they sort of got shuffled off into a montage. I realize it's the Captain America movie and it's setting up the character for the upcoming Avengers movie but still, I was sad.

The number of montages in that movie bothered me in general. It made it feel so rushed. They could have easily had an extra 15-20 minutes of story, including some more screen time for those guys, and it still would have been a normal summer tentpole length. I mean, I get that now we really are just leading up to the Avengers movie (as opposed to say, the first Iron Man when it was still just an idea that they were toying with) but would it kill them to let the damn thing stand on its own like the others?

I agree with all of this. They deserved a few more scenes, but I'll bet the execs were just thinking about the additional action figures they could sell by including the Commandos at all.

Once I realized that Dum Dum was Buck Compton I was his. Though, seriously, man looks different with a 'stache.

I could fully believe that after Buck left the front, he hung around in bars for awhile growing a Beard Of Sorrow BUT THEN HE JUST COULDN'T ABANDON ALL THOSE NAZI ASSES HE HAD TO KICK so he shaved it all off except that epic stache and joined the Howling Commandos! (This may be partially because I'm not very familiar with Cap comics at all so I didn't even know who Dum Dum was, which made it all too easy to think of him as Buck Compton just turning the traditional moustache ride up to eleven ~~like a boss~~ :D)

Dugan is Neal McDonough... I love him. So much. I was all "wait, is that? IT IS!" in the movie. I, too, would love more with this.

YES OH GOD. I'm hoping they play with canon and say Dugan got the Infinity Forumla too so he can show up in the Avengers! I mean, Fury has it, but Dum Dum's always been present on the floating timeline sooooo I think it's a perfect explanation/excuse for him to show up again.

But god damn Neal McDonough rocked the SHIT out of that moustache and bowler. I never found moustaches attractive until someone slapped one on Buck Compton and instructed it to snark for an hour.

OMG YES I didn't even know Neal McDonough was in this movie until I went to see it. Best surprise ever.

I could have made this secret. Even if I referred to Dum Dum as Bowler Hat Guy the whole time. And shipped him with one of the other Commandoes. :D

I don't know much about comics or hero films. I seriously saw Captain American practically by accident. I definitely liked these people a lot, and I felt like I missed out on their story. I don't go for this style of action much anyway, so I felt like if we'd followed them, it would have been my sort of film. They seemed like really cool guys.

*sigh* I remember when Neil was the new kid on the bridge in "First Contact." All the "old" Trek male regulars from the show nicknamed him Studbuck. :-D

You know, there might not be a Howling Commands movie, but I think there's a good chance that the next Cap movie will feature more WWII action and that there's going to be more Commands featured. They could adapt Winter Soldier with generous Flash backs to happier times similar to Under the Hood. Or just make it a full WWII movie.
