Right, because having fantasy elements in a fantasy movie is such a dumb idea. Also, Frodo should've worn Calvin Klein.

It's a dumb idea if you can't do it without making it look stupid. And LOL Calvin Klein comment. Way to completely miss all the points.

Frodo's whole look WAS a lot more toned-down and less dorky-looking than described in the books. Just like with superhero movies: they tend to tone down the more goofy-ass looks into something more palatable. cf. Captain America, Thor.

This isn't to say they could have down more with it without going totally Muggle but... well, they kind of did. They're wearing robes and uniforms. It's a happy medium imo.

You just need to cry more, clearly, so proceed.

That's the thing about live-action adaptations. What works in a drawn image (or in people's heads, in the case of books) doesn't always when it's something a real actor has to actually wear.
