TBH, it really sounds like it was made by a Zutara shipper who...hates their own fandom. Because not many of us who actually like our fandom/ship goes to the trouble to make something so inflammatory that would generate so much "OMG ZUTARA HORS R STUPID LOLOLOL".

I can't really blame, though. There was a lot of negativity directed even at the announcement of LOK just because Tenzin is a Kataang baby, and a lot of the talk made me feel like I was a traitor or something if I was interested in the series anyway. I still ship Zutara, but I have...less-than-charitable feelings toward the Zutara fandom over various things (the finale redux project, a lot of the rampant Aang-bashing, the way they treat multi-shippers, etc.), and the backlash against Korra because the creators dared to give their canon ship a child in the next series was the last straw.

True, there are Z/K shippers who are dissatisfied with the ending of the series and are planning not to watch LOK - however, there's also lots of us who are, because it looks badass. (Different, from the original series, but badass nonetheless.)

I personally don't see anyone in the Zutara fandom making others who *want* to see LOK feel bad for wanting to do so. I see lots of skepticism about the "romance" angle that Bryke are now touting, and for good reason. Kind of...hypocritical for them to be suddenly "OMG NEW LURV TRIANGLE U GAIS!!!", when during the airing of the original series they called us "delusional" for even seeing a hint of such with Zutara/Kataang.

There are always crazies in any ship - yeah, I have to admit, I thought the re-animation project was kind of dumb also. That's what fanworks (art and fic) are for - no need to get all into animation about it. (I did think it was really funny and speaks highly of Dante Basco that he'd offered to do the voice acting for Zuko.)

But most Z/K shippers are calmer these days than they used to be. I see just as many canon-shippers now who go to the trouble of writing long-winded and condescending 10K-word essays on why the canon ships are the best, and everything else is for people who don't have healthy relationships. *rolls eyes* What about those people? That obviously is a slight against (serious) multishippers too, not to mention people who favor less-popular fanon ships other than Zutara.

I personally don't see anyone in the Zutara fandom making others who *want* to see LOK feel bad for wanting to do so.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree there. I saw plenty of that attitude on both k_z and capstara, and it was the reason I stopped watching both communities. I'll find the fic and art on my own without having to deal with being insinuated that I'm not a true Zutara fan because I didn't mind the ending of the original series and I'm excited for the new one.

There are crazies in any ship, yes. But I ship both canon and Zutara, and I saw way more viciousness in Zutara fandom than I did in those of any of the canon ships. There are occasional crazies in the canon ships, yes. But the vitriol wasn't nearly as widespread as it was (and still is) in Zutara fandom. All I saw anyone do after 2008 was bash Mai and Aang and Bryke, and it's still going strong. I haven't noticed Zutara fans getting any calmer. They've only gotten worse to me as info on Korra keeps coming out.

I still ship it, but I ship it alone and in private to spare my sanity.
