The fandom actually drove me away from Harry Potter for a brief moment. Back when Cassandra Claire's Draco Trilogy was so loved it was practically "canon" and all these ridiculous crockpot theories (I believe there were like 2 published books that went way in depth about theories and analysis and predicted a bunch of shit) like Remus is really James and they switched using Polyjuice potion.

OMG! I know which books you're talking about! I think I bought one of those before the 5th book came out. xD And yeah, it had a bunch of crazy theories and like 99% of them turned out to be false. lol

I wish I still had them, but I think they were by some fans or MuggleNet? That shit was hilarious and I really want to go back and just re-read the ridiculousness.

Funny...I know they were called "Guide to the Mysteries of Harry Potter" or something like that. Some of the things said in those books were in formative, though. Like they would talk about the meanings and origins of character names and stuff.

Yeah, that's the one! Guide to the Mysteries of Harry Potter. The sidebit stuff was interesting like you said, but the rest was all vaguely wtf man. I love HP, but sometimes a cat is just a goddamn cat. (Except Crookshanks). Like I enjoyed it for picking up on the small things too, but overall it was just... dude you're crazy.
