Oh, and to answer your question as to what you're supposed to say: "Thank you for the compliment" I think. It doesn't mean you think they're correct, just that you appreciate the compliment. If it REALLY bothers you, maybe try humility? Like, "I don't think it's better than canon myself, but thank you for your kind words!" Something like that, which gets across your opinion politely?
