I don't really see how it's really something to be proud of. I watch a lot of shows and read a lot of books and I'm in very few of their fandoms.
Sure the fandom has a lot of quirky things in it -- but dude, it's freaking huge. All large fandoms have wank and weirdos. Most small fandoms have it too, it's just they do it in front of a smaller audience.
