I don't know, nonnie... isn't this normal? I mean, fandom seems to pride itself on being passionless about actual sex, but I'm not interested in a movie if I'm not attracted to anyone in it. I think that's fairly par for the coarse.

Wait so you're not interested in anything if it doesn't have someone you'd like to bone in it? You don't like watching or reading stories for the joy of storytelling, all the media you watch and enjoy is just to fuel eye candy? That's.....really weird. What if it's a story with only children, or non-human creatures? Lots of really good stuff doesn't have hot people in it. For example, Jeff Smith's Bone is one of the finest comics out there, but there's not one attractive guy in it - would you pass over the whole story because of that?

(And doesn't that essentially make it so that everything you watch is basically an extended masturbation aid?)

There's a lot of attractive people in the world, and especially in Hollywood. I don't think this makes you particularly boy crazy or means you have low standards.

Pffffffft, I have found so many movies that I enjoy simply by going, 'Oh, well, [this actor] is one sexy dude, let me see which movies of his are on Netflix because it is time to watch them all and witness him in all of his sexines!'

I mean, Aaron Eckhart is the most recent example, but there have also been Tom Hardy Weekends and Hugh Jackman Nightcaps. A Joseph Gordon-Levitt Holiday is in order some time soon. And I'm not the only person I know who does this.

I think it means that Hollywood usually casts attractive men. Different TYPES of attractive men even, so you're bound o have a ton of stuff with a guy that appeals to you.

Most people would rather stare at something they found attractive than something they didn't for a couple of hours, and most films have very attractive people in them. I think you're fine, anon :)

Actively avoiding something because there is ugly people in it would be weird, but I don't think there's anything wrong with being more interested in a movie because it has a hot actor in it. That's why Hollywood usually casts attractive people in their films.

OP, I hate to break this to you, but being attractive is pretty much a prerequisite to being a movie star. You might be shallow, but you're not really any more shallow than anyone else.

I can understand that with popcorn television and movies, but I have a harder time with it when it's quality tv and movies that would otherwise interest you. Like, watching something shallow for shallow reasons, I get; but something with depth to it that hits my personal kinks, I can't say no to that unless there's an actor who I absolutely can't stand or something like that.

Most TV and movies have at least one person you'll find attractive, yes. However, I bet there is some good stuff you're missing out on. A good plot and engaging characters count for something, too.
