"Cinderella story" is not exactly a good comparison, but it is an example of a gender neutral term, yes.

Don't you know? Male names can be applied in a gender-neutral way, but female names are only for females!

lol yeah, because there are zero negative connotations that only apply to female characters when they're hit with the Mary Sue label, regardless if they deserve it, when it's done not nearly as often or with as much malice as male equivalents...

oh wait. QQ more, "gender neutral," etc. etc.

Don't think people said that because "ohmygod, I hate female terms!1!!", just because in some foreigner (not English speaker) fandoms, Sue isn't a neutral term.

I've never heard that a male character is a Sue, so it sounds weird as hell to me. If it sounds well to you, keep using it, no problem. Don't get why all the gender issues with everything, really.
