Sometimes, this whole "poorly written" thing sounds nothing more than a way to make people to stop writing female characters, because they are never going to get them right.
We got all of these male characters that aren't exactly as nuanced as people make them to be, and you rarely see people criticize them as harsh as they criticize female characters. We got these action heroes, geniuses and chosen-ones and, not matter how awful or cliché they are written, we rarely point finger at them.
