OMG HOARDERS SECRET

he gets pissed off at the hoarders so quickly, I could see some angry throwing-shit-in-the-truck followed by hatesex (which begs the question, where the hell would they do it? there's no room on the floor or the beds ...)

WHY AM I THINKING ABOUT THIS.

If Matt Paxton isn't in an episode, I won't watch it. He's the fucking MAN.

Same here. Dorothy irritates me but Matt is awesome

Umm... from that screenshot, I'm not sure he has anything I want to see. Just some regular, middle aged doughiness. (But if that's what you like, OP, then more power to you.)

Not the OP, but you have no idea how awesome this man is. I'm a lesbian, and I'd pay for him to take his shirt off XD

I've always been too preoccupied with the human garbage dumps on Hoarders to really pay attention to the other people on the show.

The mere existence of that show turns my stomach. I cringe and scurry past the television every time an ad comes on for it. I'm sorry, but a show that runs for multiple seasons is not a fucking "documentary," it's more like a reality show. A documentary documents shit, and then it fucking ENDS. It doesn't go on and on "documenting" something solely for entertainment purposes.

HEY GUYS LET'S WATCH A DOCUMENTARY SHOW ON OBSESSIVE-COMPULSIVES NEXT, AND GASP IN TITILLATED HORROR OVER HOW OFTEN THEY WASH THEIR HANDS. THEN "SCHIZOPHRENICS: THESE PEOPLE ARE TOTALLY BATSHIT" IS ON. OMG, THAT GUY ACTUALLY THINKS HE'S COVERED IN BUGS, LOLOLOL, GET SOME FUCKING OFF!, MAN.

Fucking gross. And this is the second show focused on hoarding! Will this public obsession with gawking at people's crap-filled houses PLEASE END, jesus christ.

Some of us who have to live in situations as portrayed on Hoarders and Hoarding: Buried Alive like to know that we are not alone and totally abandoned by society in our own personal circle of Hell, thanks. And to pick up tips on how to deal with the people in our lives who are like that. Even when/if you can't clean the house up/out.

That said, I thought both shows were becoming a bit as described above -- this season, though, they have been far more realistic. They've shown the failures, a few times now, actually, on both shows, so it's a lot more realistic, even if it does mean not every show has a happy ending.

My parents have always been hoarders. I am now 35, and trying to stop one parent who is living in my house, from going back to it. We have dealt with two major family traumas, in the past year, and this parent was diagnosed with COPD in 2007 (parent is still smoking). The parent in question has actually become marginally more self-aware, since they walked in when I had the show on once (where the subject in question was hoarding in exactly the same way as the parent in question), and at least the common spaces in the house have (mostly) remained under control since then. Although a lot of it is tucked away, hidden in closets, in the basement, etc.

TL;DR: Hoarders and Buried Alive kept me sane, during some extremely difficult times, over the past few years. Not all of us watch it for the rubbernecking / superiority complex factor, OP.

...And what the fuck perspective did you SERIOUSLY think I was writing that from? I'm a hoarder, anon. Three nasty bug infestations later, and it is semi-controlled at the moment. No insects, nothing more than a year old, and nothing rotting. It's a work in progress.

If you get the impression that these shows were created because some exec actually gives a damn about hoarders rather than providing society with something to rubberneck at, then I don't know what the hell to say to you. It's like you're not even aware how other people are receiving this show. The fact that the shows are starting to show "failures" is incredibly telling - that is playing to the part of the audience who finds it most delicious when people fail. It's a faddish public obsession, and it will end. I hope you're not depending on the shows for help.

If I want tips, I can get them from many other resources. I don't need a TV show that exists just to let people know I exist, and I'm highly entertaining.

OH MY GOD MATT PAXTON. I love him.

This is the best secret I've seen. I feel less weird now.
