rly? i find the White Collar fandom to be one fo the nicest tbh... i don't rly like Sara tho. Just give me 1 hour of Neal and Peter, that's all i need. And maybe Elizabeth.

Also, is it really necessary to belong to a fandom to enjoy a show?

Oh my gosh! This. I still follow sometimes, for icons and stuff. But seriously the fandom is super wanky. It seems to me like they don't even like the show.

Honestly, it depends which comms you belong to. Some are super, super full of wank and bullshit. Others not so much. I tend to stick just to the newsletter comms and a couple of fic comms so I get links to fic and icons.

I steer well clear of episode discussions - they always piss me off. There's bound to be character bashing and negativity about just about everything.

Don't give up completely, anon :) You've just got to look in the right places! Check out wcnewsletter to get started, maybe? sara_ellis_fans if you're a fan of Sara ♥ Oh, and wc_women_fest. I'd leave a more coherent/detailed comment, but it's 2am and I want to go to bed.

Okay. The Music Box contained the pattern for a fractal antenna that picked up a locator beacon for a sunken WWII sub full of loot. They recover it, arrest the guy who killed Kate for it, and Mozzie...blows up the truck it was loaded on, and stashes the art in a warehouse.

Social Justice Warriors of fandom started screaming Blood Art! because if Nazis had it, it had to be taken from dead Jews! Blood Art! TPTB said, no, wait. The Nazis looted museums, too, and being in the business, Neal and Moz would know what was tainted and what was fenceable. SJWs kept screaming Blood Art! and accused TPTB of not making it clear that it wasn't. Because, y'know, god forbid a plot actually unfold slowly without every single detail explained in two syllable words in every episode.

Then, of course, when TPTB actually edited in a line of dialogue discussing the fact that the loot had been taken from a Russian museum, they said it was too little too late and started picking over the fact that, omg, a couple of thieves were considering running off with billions of dollars of paintings!

And that's when I bailed and started just watching the show and ignoring the fandom

I'm not active but just from reading I see it has its great ups and very catty downs. I don't understand a lot of the hate, ESPECIALLY for Sarah (I like her a lot too!), while some people who hate her excuse every shitty thing that Neal has done.

Plus there's just too much Neal/Peter fic for my taste, but that's just a personal preference-- I like Peter/El because holy crap they are adorable and Neal/Anyone Else.

I LOVE White Collar. But I've never gone anywhere near the fandom. So, hearing that it's a huge wankfest surprises me. I watch it religiously right along side my 62 year old father, so, yeah. He'd probably be weirded out if I got involved in the fandom and brought fandom-ish things up while watching. lol. SN: After the events of the final scene in tonight's episode, his reaction was to scream at the screen: "NO!... They didn't! They'd better not!" I love my Dad.

I've just gotten into the fandom, and I've found the same thing - instead I've been trying to find the NICE people in the fandom to add to my flist, so I can still flail and communicate with awesome people, but without the wank that goes on in communities. I ship everyone with everyone in this show, wank is not acceptable.

Heck, I'm not really involved in fandom, per se, I just check out the TWOP boards, and each week the haters just get more and more vocal, feeding off each other, especially in bashing Sara even for episodes she's not even in! I've just had to stop going there for the sake of my blood pressure and my eyeballs :/

So glad I have never ventured into that fandom, then. This is a show I watch and enjoy all by myself, and I think that's why I love it so much.
