No worries. The grown-up part of the fandom knows already. And has either participated in Cain fandom for years now or isn't interested because the two series are totally different. They're both drawn prettily, they're both set in Victorian England, (but only sort of for one of them), and that's the end of any resemblance. They're not even the same genre.

After seeing all my friends talking about this series I can't help to think that is a bad rip-off of Count Cain.
Count Cain + shota + random humor = Kuroshitsuji

But if you actually compare CC and Kuroshitsuji (not that you should, but) isn't Cain more like Ciel and Riff more like Sebastian...?

Although I guess if you want to go my appearance Mukuro is Sebastian's creepy-ass twin, not Cain.

Holy shit. I KNEW the Kuroshitsuji character designs reminded me of something else.

I firmly believe the author of Kuroshitsuji was a fan of Cain, or has least read it before. It's just too coincidental. People talk about how their differences are so superficial, but it actually goes deeper than Victorian era butlers, and a gothic aesthitic, imo. Cain and Ciel are both very isolated (dead families etc) and cynical characters, and yeah Cain is older but you get a lot of flashbacks of his childhood, and at that time he was very like Ciel. Said isolation both makes them close to their butlers, despite that attachment generally being a bad idea. And some of the supporting characters strike very similar to me. Elizabeth and Merryweather, Grell and Jizabel. idk.

sorta agree, whenever I see anything from Kuroshitsuji from far away I think it's mb from Godchild and get all excited and then I realize it's Black Butler and visibly deflate. o_o it's not that interesting imo, and I'm just not into shota lol so I don't think I could get into the fandom~
