I didn't even know you can submit icons.

Also, I lol'd at the bottom there. Too true. It's especially my favourite when graphic makers grab them and their friends to start a war with someone who didn't credit them.

I don't make icons, but I can see the argument for H_A sucking. I've thought so for a long time. My problem is that the layout is too complex. They're basically posting images, so why do we need millions of other images and coding tricks? This was especially frustrating when I had Firefox and the site used to make my browser crash when they had that snow/other stuff gif.

It wouldn't cost them anything to make their layout simpler, unless they hired someone to make that mess.

That said, I still don't really understand why people put their icons behind flock. Unless it's like having a hit counter or something.

That's the horrific thing, I think they DID get a professional to do the site. I miss the days when they were on LJ. Their stuff is always WAY oversharpened, but it was good for obscure PBs. Now it's just... not worth the eyesore.

I'm totally not using icons from that site right now, oh no...

I like Hollow Art in a nerdy sort of way- my main problem with them is the navigation- I'd really like to be able to search for multiple tag combinations, i.e. "red hair + brown eyes + twenties + male" instead of just scrolling through all the red hair, or all the twentysomethings.

My issue isn't that the content sucks, it's that the searching seems borked. I search for male and red hair and get every man who's tagged with "Red Riding Hood" instead. Good job, there! Totally useful.

I really don't get why people bitch about locking icons. My co-maintainers and I do it on our PB icon journal because we don't want them coming up on Google searches--and even so, directory images of ours come up on the first page for a lot of the obscure PBs we've done.

But then, our comm is open membership so there's no approval to go through. I guess not having instant access can be irritating.
