Sometimes it can be really difficult to find people who aren't bigots tough... I don't recall meeting anyone in my life who wasn't a homophobe(well, except people who are gay and can't hide it, but if you're closeted you tend to avoid them).

If you don't make do with people that are bigots but otherwise friendly the loneliness can drive you crazy.

Not to mention that for a lot of people, it's not just 'making do' either. A lot of still care about their friends and their relationships with them, even if said friends are bigots.

Along with this, that's another issue I see a lot of people facing.

"Cut out everyone from your life that you have ever cared about and love and find new people who will accept you for who you are!"

Most unfortunately loaded set of good intentions ever.

I'm glad OP has found a space where they can be themselves, though.
