The thing about the Giants - and this is why the WS last year was so special for a lot of people - is that even when the Giants were good, they were incredibly disappointing and painful to watch. Never won a World Series since coming to San Francisco in the 50s, had heartbreak after heartbreak - from McCovey's line drive in 62 to the meltdown in 2002. So uh yeah, even when they were good within the last ten years, they were still painful to follow. And I don't mean to complain because they WERE a good team and after all they did just win a World Series. But yeah, you gotta go through the bad to enjoy the godo.

Hey, that's what Bay Area teams do -- they get to the playoffs and choke. I'm therefore very suspicious of last season's Giants. I don't think they were real.

It never happened. It was all a collective hallucination, caused by swamp gas. It's the only explanation.

Thank God for the Niners, except they suck now too (that preseason game was absolutely abysmal)
