Well, whatever floats your boat, anon. Though I hope you'll get attached to other characters and storylines along the way, one of the things I like the most about ASoIaF is that it's an ensemble piece where every viewpoint is pretty much equally valid... I feel that if you only focus on one and disregard the rest you're probably missing out.

Not OP, but absolutely this.

Although I do wish Circe wasn't made out to be quite so... deluded and impotent. When it starts in with her PoV, I dunno. I just expected something not quite so extreme.

Haha, yeah, I was about to say "every viewpoint is equally valid... except maybe Cersei's" but edited it out for the sake of brevity. There definitely seems to be some negative bias towards her on GRRM's part - I kind of think we got to see her POV earlier, before the trauma of losing Joffrey (little shit that he was, I could still sympathize with her grief there) and her father and the suddenly hugely amount of power she finds in her hands. Like, we get to have a peek inside her mind the exact moment she starts breaking and going into this downward spiral, and it feels... unfair, in a way? I don't know how else to put it. And I don't know if you've read ADwD yet so I'll stop it here :)

I've noticed that in the narration too. Which is frustrating considering Jaime is just as messed up as she is (as are most of the other characters).

I'm not very far into FFC and so far I'm loving Cersei's pov. I don't get a bias from the writer so much as this is the way Cersei's always been. She was just able to be deluded before because she was in a good position. Maybe there's just stuff coming up I don't see yet and I'll feel differently, but it's interesting to me having a woman who thinks she would be a better son than her brothers and really she'd be the weakest brother in part because she's never had to confront her own true limits.

I'm glad it isn't just me! I dreaded starting A Feast For Crows because of the way fandom talked about it. I'm surprised by how much I've been enjoying it, especially Cersei's chapters. (Though your reasons are much more intelligent. A lot of my love is based in how amused I am by Jaime and Cersei's fights basically boiling down to "You fuck my wife? You fuck my wife?" "I am your wife!" "That doesn't matter! You fuck my wife?" "All right, fine, I am you wife, and I fucked her.")

I think that part of her character is interesting, too. But back when Tyrion was the Hand, I just got the impression that she was much more shrewd and calculating than she is, and dangerous not /just/ because of the sudden power dumped into her lap, on top of all her other issues and gargantuan ego.

I can see how it logically works out and how she develops into her current state. I was just hoping to see her get better than she got, I guess. =P And after a point for me, it was just like "oh hey, self-satisfied half-drunk Cersei making more catastrophic decisions because she has completely lost the ability to think about the consequences + some fanservice for the boiz. Cool."

We only get Cersei's POV after she's starting to crack from []. I think it would have been way better to have her POV the same time we had Jaime's. I don't think she's as nuts as everyone says anyway, though, because whenever she's paranoid about something she's pretty much right, so...

I love Jon, too. And for the most part I like the show's choice to age up the characters, but I think the show lost something by making him older. Which is why fans of the show complain about him being too "emo", because his story was written for a younger character, and feels like it.
