I didn't explain this because I like to keep my secrets not so wordy, especially when there's already a bunch of text on the image I'm using. Keeps them neat. Also trying to get right to the point. Anyways, here goes.

Alice in Wonderland has a huge following. It comes well before this book and certainly had an influence on this book. Abstract the two enough, and you get pretty much the same idea. Kid goes to an alternate world and has a journey. It's a secret because there's really no use, objectively, in making the comparison. Alice in Wonderland was a satire on mathematics. The Phantom Tollbooth is a pretty straightforward hero's adventure with a nice literal exploration of metaphorical language in English. They are two totally different books and should be treated as such.

But I still think the Phantom Tollbooth is better, and I wish people would give tribute to that book in their works rather than Alice in Wonderland. Yeah, the Alice books were plenty fun. But I still feel like the Phantom Tollbooth had a lot more substance.
