Why would they when they don't have to? Parents will only intrude and involve themselves if they feel that their child has problems that they -see- as problems. He's not even a bad kid. The parents have nothing to even complain about, so...
You're kidding me? Right?

Parents should be involved with their children because they care.

It's true that their sometimes not and there are often valid reasons for that. I'm not saying that parents who aren't there for their children because they love them are monsters, I'm saying that they're making a mistake (some circumstances aside).

If it's not hurting either of the parties in any way, then I don't see how that's a "mistake" on their part.
