Wolfram :((((( I ship(ped) them, most certainly, but I also was accepting of the fact that there probably WAS no endgame, Yuuri's straight--or if anything, possibly Conrad-sexual--and I wasn't going to get the happy little family with Greta that I always wanted them to have ;~;

It's not that type of series. But I don't think you could say that Yuuri was straight. He certainly noticed Wolfram, and other guys, especially in the books. But he's young and trying to be normal so...yeah.

Loling at the end part of this secret. There are huge factions of Yuuram shippers. In the English fandom, I'd say they even out-number the Conyuu fans. The Japanese fandom is predominately Conyuu, though.

Actually that's a rumour spread around by ConYuu fans desperate to get a leg up. In Japan fans of both pairings are pretty much equal and I wish people would stop spreading this daft rumour about in order to make whichever ship they follow seem better.

Conrad is my favorite part of this series.

Can I say, as someone who ships pretty much everything BUT Yuuri/Wolfram, that I sort of agree with you? The way the anime pushed the comedic part of that relationship to the forefront ended up feeling detrimental to both characters, and it's one of the major things that's kept me from liking the pairing in the first place. Even if there couldn't be any real resolution between those two, it would have been nice if they'd actually dealt with a couple of the issues between them instead of leaving them in status quo for 100+ episodes.

(I'm kind of blinking at the 'any self-respecting fan ships Conrad-Yuuri' though, since I'm pretty sure that in the English-language fandom the Yuuri/Wolfram fans outnumber everyone. They're certainly the most vocal....)

That's kind of the point I took from the secret. The youngish, weeaboo-ish ones are the Yuuram shippers. At least, that's been my experience with fandom.

I know quite a few Yuuri/Wolfram shippers who aren't youngish and I don't know what weeaboo-ish is...

Self-respect fan. Well, I guess I fail at being a self-respecting fan, then. Goes back to writing Yuuri/Wolfram.

I can't feel sorry for Wolfram at all. No love for unreasonable tsunderes here :P

I... I might possibly love tsundere characters, so Wolfram was always my favorite. By the end of the series I really sort of disliked Yuuri, tbh. With his whole liking boys is abnormal, what society tells me is right, etc. thing. Like, I get why people might not like Wolfram, but... idk, the way I saw it, he was really in love with Yuuri and that just hurt. ;o;

I hate tsundere characters and Wolfram was always my favorite, lol. idk, I suppose he's tsundere by definition, but he was always very vocal about his love and devotion for Yuuri, which is what differentiates him from tsunderes I can't stand like Hiro from Junjou Romantica who seem like they'd sooner throw their lover across the room than kiss them :/

I loved Yuuram, but that's only because Wolfram was my favorite character, and I wanted him to be happy.

That said, I severely disliked Yuuri, and I wished Wolfram would like someone else just so I didn't want to ship him with him. By the end of the series, I was shipping Conrad/Wolfram. Definitely not one of the popular ships, and yes, I get the fact that they're half-brothers.

I have only watched the anime, but I'd love to read the novels just to see the differences.

wolfram kept on breaking my heart due to his pining for Yuuri..and I'm a bit annoyed at how superficially the fandom treats him. Sure, he's a brat, but a good chunk of the series focuses on his character development and his increasing maturity. End-of-season-2!Wolfram =/= the character we get a first impression of at the beginning. I kind of wish fans realized that 8(
As for the shipping, well, as much of a Yuuram shipper as I am, I just want both to be happy, even if it doesn't mean that they're going to end up together.

I don't get your Conrad/Yuuri complaint. From what I remember when I browsed that fandom Wolfram/Yuuri was the dominant ship. I also don't recall Wolfram being anything other than a princess. I didn't particularly sense any devotion from him, just gags with the two of them thrown together. If anything it was mostly Wolfram who was pissed at the situation and Yuuri trying to make him happy in different ways.

I guess you missed the episode where Wolfram holds onto Yuuri at the edge of a cliff and when Yuuri protests saying he will pull Wolfram down, Wolfram responds "Then I will fall with you"

Removing any romantic element, Wolfram's devotion to Yuuri as the king is proven several times. Like, an episode. :? He consistently rushes into dangerous situations if he thinks Yuuri is in trouble, he consistently defends Yuuri in battle at the point of death. He is consistently shown to be concerned about Yuuri's well-being when Yuuri is away. I mean you can argue the romantic elements of it, but that's blatantly stated in canon, that Wolfram is very devoted to Yuuri. That's basically the gag.

It's also shown very blatantly that Wolfram finds Yuuri very attractive and approves of their engagement after the first time Yuuri channels Maou, Wolfram outright said that he was awed by and attracted to Yuuri's power. That's the night he starts wearing lingerie to Yuuri's bed...? I mean the show wasn't really subtle about this.

What is up for debate is if Wolfram started to feel attached to Yuuri as plain every day Yuuri, which I think is also a pretty blatant yes, as he begins to grow deeply jealous of Conrad's connection with Yuuri, and Wolfram's character arc humbles him.

Whereas Yuuri doesn't really have a character arc, he's consistently the same kind, upbeat character from beginning to end. The series bucks the trend of the characters growing and changing for each other, because while Wolfram's character arcs neatly over Yuuri's straight line, he doesn't have anyone to meet him at the end of his journey; Yuuri was never heading in the same direction.

Did you even watch the series? There are several serious scenes that show Wolframs devotion. Says he'd fall and die with him. Protects him using his own body as a sheild. Not too mention when they think Yuri won't be coming back and the last Yuuri sees of this world is Wolfram crying softly in a super sad scene as he realized he'll never see Yuri again. Or when Wolfram thinks that Yuuri is being affected by a form of magic that causes distrust and he tells Yuuri; "I don't care if you trust me or not, it doesn't change the fact taht you are extremely important to me."

That's the reason why it's so sad. Wolmframs love and devotion is clearly shown in several serious scenes and he changes to a more mature and calm person as the series develops. But Yuuri, for the most part, never really start seeing Wolmfram as anything more than one of many friends.

Oh hell, the number of times I wanted to smack Yuri upside the head and tell him to just kiss the boy already! Wolfram was so head over heels for him and he barely got any affection at all...

What do you mean by self-respecting fan? My favorite ship is Yuuri/Wolfram, and I don't feel like my self-respect as a fan has been compromised for liking it better than Conrad/Yuuri. It comes off as though you think that being anything but a Conrad/Yuuri fan makes you less of a fan of the series. I apologize if you did not mean it like that, that's just how it came off to me.
